Komen Knoxville’s workshop to review guidelines, grant application process for 2017-2018 funding

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Aug. 15, 2016 – Susan G. Komen® Knoxville announces its annual Grant Writing Workshop to learn how to apply for its 2017-18 Community Grants Program. The workshop will be held at the Pinnacle Building 1111 N. Northshore Drive Knoxville, TN 37919 on Thursday, September 8th from 1 – 4 p.m.

According to Kim Parks, Director of Community Programs, “our Community Grants program funds breast cancer screening/diagnostic programs and treatment support services for the underserved in our region.” Eligible 501(c)3 organizations providing services in Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union counties are invited to attend.  Attendance at the workshop is mandatory for applicants.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Seventy-five percent of the Knoxville Affiliate’s net annual revenue funds life-saving screening and treatment support services for the uninsured and medically underserved women and men in sixteen East Tennessee counties. The remaining 25 percent teams with other Komen Affiliates nationwide to fund breast cancer research. The majority of Komen Knoxville’s annual revenue is generated through Race for the Cure to be held on October 22, 2016 at World’s Fair Park.  For more information, visit
